Math Literacy 4: Research-based Math Approaches

This course explores a variety of ways to engage students as they continue to integrate the PLN frameworks (The Five Mathematical Processes and The Four Lenses of Learning) in the mathematics classroom. Participants find new and creative ways to implement strategies with the State Standards in mind. This course continues with rich discussions about classroom techniques and previous presentations and discussions from earlier PLN math courses.
The following text is recommended: "Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All" by NCTM. PLN provides "The Plainer Truths of Teaching, Learning and Literacy" by Morton Botel and Lara Paparo as the mentor text or participants can bring their copies of "The Plainer Truths" from an earlier PLN course.

Prerequisites: PLN Math 1, and PLN Math 2 or PLN Math 3
